Matt Brown is a great guitar teacher if you are looking to self teach yourself with through self means. If you are interested in learning Nirvana Matt Brown''s Guitar Studio is the way to go he has helped me through high school to acquire a new skill and love for guitar playing I am thankful to be blessed to have a virtual guitar teacher such as Matt Brown because even though some say Nirvana is simple for guitar techniques, sometimes simplicity is the best teacher and remember what the master says to never forget the basics thank you Matt Brown

“I had a great lesson with Matt. He quickly and thoroughly assessed my current abilities and helped me focus on areas I most needed to practice. He also had some good advice for questions I had.”

Maggie has been my guitar instructor since January 2024 & it is easily the highlight of my week each Wednesday. Maggie makes guitar fun, accessible, & extremely enjoyable! I could not recommend a better coach for learning guitar. 5 stars!

Matt is an excellent instructor. I previously played guitar and took lessons in high school, but unfortunately lost my passion for the instrument and got burnt out just playing riffs and never really learning music theory. I decided to take up the instrument again after a long hiatus and Matt has been an excellent instructor. He was able to analyze my technical skills and also music knowledge and help tailor lesson plans to my background and goals. I feel like he does well because he approaches from a holistic viewpoint and incorporates fundamental music theory with technical playing skills and exercises. He helped me address a few areas of improvement but also helped play off my strengths having played guitar before. In addition, Matt is very accommodating with scheduling and helped me find convenient lesson dates while also taking into account my crazy work schedule as a hospitalist. Highly recommend.

There are a lot of great musicians in Chicago, but there’s probably only a handful that have Matt’s level of expertise. Within that group, there's an even smaller number who are also exceptional teachers—and Matt is exceptional. He’s obviously extremely intelligent and skilled, but he is never condescending and always kind, patient, encouraging and professional. Then again, I found him by googling "best guitar teacher in Chicago" 9 months ago. Thanks for the lessons, Matt!
Amanda - Chicago
“The Youtube videos that Matt posts detailing the ins and out of all your favorite early alt rock anthems are top notch. I can only imagine how beneficial private lessons would be. I hope he knows how much his generosity means to his audience. Thank you Matt for your time and dedication :).”

I am in my late forties, and always wanted to learn to play the piano. Five years ago, Jonathan helped me make that dream come true and met me exactly where I was. He has been teaching me music theory, he sourced a piano book suitable for adults and gives me the space to ask questions or focus on one particular area of interest.
Because Jonathan is so very observant as well as a great communicator, we have even been able to switch to remote learning after he moved to Chicago. Anyone would be very lucky indeed to be taught by someone as dedicated and patient as Jonathan.

Matt’s online lessons are so helpful! The best I have come across for learning AIC songs and he covers many of the deeper cuts which is nice too. He is also incredibly helpful beyond that and was willing to share his transcription of one of the songs I needed a little more help with and even offered to share more if I wanted them.

Matt is an amazing teacher. I have tried off and on for years with other methods of learning the guitar but this is the first time I have made such great progress. He presents things clearly and breaks them down in bite size pieces to learn all of your favorite songs.
He is priced fairly, flexible and above all a very nice guy. I look forward to my weekly lessons. If you are thinking of taking guitar lessons I would highly recommend Matt!

"Wonderful bass guitar teacher! He was exactly what we were looking for!"
Lourdes - Chicago
Matt is a great teacher! He makes the lessons fun and easy to understand. His calm demeanor creates a very relaxed atmosphere that is super conducive to learning. He is also incredibly talented! It's cool to watch him breeze through the stuff he is teaching me. Plus, the lessons are very reasonably priced for the skill level that he possesses. I can't recommend him enough. If you're thinking about taking private lessons look no further.

I have been taking guitar lessons from Maggies Fahey for the past six months and have thoroughly enjoyed every lesson. Maggie brings a great deal of knowledge of, not only what to each, but also how to teach, tailoring her approach to a particular skill making it possible to move passed obstacles and learn at a constant rate.
Along with the knowledge and skill Maggie brings to every lesson she is personable and obviously enjoys sharing her vast knowledge of music and guitar playing.
